Middleton Rock Quarry

Dad used to work at the quarry. Hard, back breaking work. He mentions it alot when talking about family values and work ethics. It's the same lecture where you always find yourself thinking 'gee, and you walked to school up hill both ways, right Dad?'. But, you smile alot, nod and listen, knowing it will be over soon enough, and you can escape the confines of the house for more fun ventures.

Yes, the quarry used to be alive once, filled with sweat drenched men who pummeled away at earth and stone, working through the depression to put a meal on the table for their families. Once the site of such active labor, the quarry now stands still, serene, until Friday and Saturday nights, when the greasers and Middleton's reckless teens meet to have their fun. They are fearless, you see. No old ghost stories will scare them away. They are the same kids who ventured over to Sleepy Hollow at night, even after hearing the sickening stories about the children who never came back. You'll find them there, swinging from that hook on the crane and splashing in the water, drinking beer, smoking cigarettes without a care in the world.

As for you, when you think of the quarry, you think of uncle James. Though you weren't alive to see it, the story leaves chills running up and down your spine. Eccentric Aunt Molly told you about it, despite the family's closed mouth policy on the issue. See, no one in Middleton speaks of James Sinclair, of how they found his body impaled and hanging from that very hook that hangs over the quarry's water.

Perhaps that's why they never removed the crane. Perhaps no one had the gall to venture close enough after that. The grisly discovery was made by the quarry foreman one early morning just as the dawn peeked over the stone cliffs, painting the devastating scene in hues of orange, and pink. No one could ever explain how his body could have been suspended from that hook. It is one of the many mysteries of Middleton that go unanswered, unspoken of. But as for you? You'll be staying out of the quarry on the weekends.  Performance for the quarry can be done at #COS_Quarry.
